1. What do we know about ancient African religion? Did their beliefs/religion spread with trading like Islam?
2. What technologies did Africans have?(Like how did they build a wall 36 feet high and 20 feet thick?)

1. Since Africa was/is mostly an oral tradition won't things (stories) change over time because it is not written down?
2. How did they fire the clay for the Noks? How did they get it (the fire) hot enough?
3. How long did it take the Caravans to cross the Sahara?
4. They traded gold for salt. It seems that the gold would be more valuable. Why did they trade gold for salt?
5. Where in North Africa were the Berbers?
6. What was the religion before Islam in Africa?
7. Who was Ghana?
8. Since the Sahara had flies with deadly disease, and little water, how did people cross the Sahara?
9. Why did Samanguru kill the 11 brothers? Were they a threat?

1. What exactly is the difference between the rock age and the iron age? During the iron age they used hot rocks to melt metal so what did they do during the rock age?
2. Did any of the Almoravids convert to Islam?
3. The ruins in Zimbabwe seemed to be the religious center of the city. What religion did they believe in? Was the religion still polytheistic?

1) Since trade is very important for West Africa, and they had to travel across the Sahara desert to trade, I am wondering how long it took to travel across the Sahara Desert, and what else they traded besides salt.

2) Why did Mansa Musa give away all of his gold to the people in Cairo, what was his reason for giving at all away?

1.From the readings, Africa seemed to be a powerful, properous, and advanced region. When and why did Europe surpass it?

2. What were some "native African" religions? Sundiata converted for trade reasons, were there other reasons that people converted at that time?

Was gold traded for salt because it was hot so people lost a lot of salt in their sweat?
How were people able to travel the Sahara if it was so treacherous between the threat of dehydration and desiese transmitting flies?
Where did Mansa Musa's wealth come from?
