The Pope

The Pope is visiting the US this week. What do you know about the Pope and what would you like to learn about him? (not just this Pope -- but the office over time)

Your post should contain 3-4 sentences of thought-provoking prose.

I do not know very much about the pope. I know he is from Germany and became pope in 2005. How is the pope chosen? What are the requirements a person has to have to be able to become a pope?

I do not know very much about the Pope except for the fact that he resides at St. Peter's Basilica (sp?) and that he just recently turned 81. I would like to know how the Pope is chosen and what is required to become the Pope. I remember visiting Rome and going to St. Peter's Basilica to hear the Pope speak. When we went into St. Peter's Basilica, there were like glass caskets of the previous Popes who had died.

I dont know very much about the Pope either. I know that he is visiting Washington DC and New York. I think they voted on him to become Pope but I dont really know. I was wondering where the Pope lives and what his daily routine is like? Like, how much of his life revolves around his religion?

i don't know anything about the pope except that he is new, and that he replaced John Paul II last year (at least i think it was last year. i don't really know when it was). I was wondering if there is an age requirement to become pope because it seems like they are always old. Also, do they have to have been Christians their whole life, or can they have jsut converted?

I do not know a lot about the Pope. I do know that he became the pope when Pope John Paul II died. I think this was in 2005. I would like to know what the pope's daily routine includes, religious ceremonies.. etc. Also what is the selection process for picking a new pope? How often does the Pope make visits to different countries?

I don't know a lot about the Pope, only that the position means he is the head of the Christian Catholic church, and that the current pope was only recently named the pope. I would like to know what the pope's duties are, and what it takes to become the pope.

I basically do not know much about the pope. I know that he is a big part of the Catholic religion and he is visiting DC today. I know that the first pope was Saint Peter.
How long does the pope serve for?
Where does the pope live?

I don't know much about the Pope, but I know that he the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church. How is a new Pope selected? Once you are elected do you stay Pope until you die, or do you have a certain time that you have the role like the president? Does the Pope have any other role but to be the head of the Catholic Church?

I do not know much at all about the pope. I know that a few years ago he was chosen as pope. I know that he is the head of the catholic church. I was wondering who chooses the new pope if one dies? What kind of decisions does the pope make?

I have another quick question. What is the pope's first language?

Just kidding, it's Evan

I know that the pope is considered to be a holy man to Catholics, and is the most important living figure. I know he must climb through the ranks to become pope... Priest, Bishop, Archbishop, Cardinal, etc. I think the choosing has something to do with white or black smoke? I know there has never been an American pope, and they serve until their death.

How often does the pope travel? How many hours per day does he spend praying? What is the history of his robes, hat, etc.?

I know that Pope Benedict served in the Nazi army, which was very controversial. I know that he was the more conservative choice (and older choice) When he was a cardinal he was reffered to as "ratzinger the rotweiler". I know about papal ifallibily (where the pope cannot not be wrong). I know he lives in the Vatican and is the represtative for Christ on earth for the Catholic Church.
I wonder if he and Pope John Paul II were close. You'd think that he would try to foloow in Pope John Paul's footsteps more if her were.
I also wonder how many masses he does a year.

I know that the pope is the leader of the cathloc church and lives in vatican city. I also know that he is a pope until he dies. I would like to know how they choose the next pope, and if they could leave
