I would be interested in finding out more about Mansa Musa and Sundiata. They were obviously some great heroes of early Africa. Also, they were both Muslim... while most Africans rejected the idea of monotheism. I would like to look into that and also look in detail at their lives and stories.

I would be interested in finding out about mansa musa's hajj. I am curious to find out answers to questions such as, "how many people did he take," and "how did they feed/water everyone?" Also, I am curious as to how this was perceived by others. So, I will look in detail at this for my paper.

I would be interested in finding more about Trade in Africa. I am curious in what they traded, how they traveled across the Sahara Desert, and if they traded with any other countries or traveled overseas to trade. Also about what they traded the most and what they traded in exchange.

I would be interested in learning more about griots.I am curious to finding out the answers to these questions: how did the people find out about these stories, and once the story teller died who took their place. I would also like to see if griots like fables and story tails have a lesson in them or is it just family history?

I would be interested in finding out more about important buildings in Africa. One important building that I could focus on is the Djenne Mosque. I would like to know things about this place like important events that have happened. I am curious to find other places like that that have influenced Africa.

I would like to learn more about the gold mines in Ghana. They were their main source of power and one of their only ways to trade for other valuable things like salt and animals.

I am interested to learn about the ruins in Zimbabwe. I am interested to learn why the ruins were built in the first place? What did they mean? Why and who built the ruins? How did they build the ruins without the technology we have today? How exactly were the ruins connected to trade?

Sorry i posted so late, i did not know we had to post :D

ok, so I am interested in learning more about gold in African history. I already know that it was mainly in Ghana and that it was so plentiful that some people would be covered head to toe. But what I really want to find out is why africa went from extremely rich and powerful, to one of the most poverty sticken countries today.

i would like to learn more about the political backround of Africa. How they got their government, any problems they have had or do have now with elections or stuff like that, and how their system of government works.

I would like to learn about the ruins in Zimbabwe. I think it would be interesting to learn about how they used to live and how they live now in Zimbabwe. It would also be interesting to see how archeologists are inspecting the ruins. I think the ruins are a great way to learn about the ancient culture of Zimbabwe.

I would like to reasearch the Zulu ( I came a cross it when trying to figure out what my topic should be). It is an ethnic group, and a few live in Zimbabwe. A lot of people there are either traditional African or Christians (unlike most of Africa, which was Muslim). They were also skilled warriors. Or I would like to learn about Sonni Ali. He was a great military king and leader of the Songhay.

I'm doing Zulu

I would be interested in finding more about Sundiata Keita. According to the reading, he appears to be the founder and first ruler of the Kingdom of Mali. Also, Sundiata Keita expanded the Mali kingdom in order to include the Kingdom of Ghana and the West African Gold Fields.

I also want to know a little bit more about Mansa Musa because he seems as if he was very important during that time and was greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I am still deciding on what I want to research for this paper.

Gertrude Caton
I would like to write my paper on Gertrude Caton. I would like to do this in order to learn more about her and the work she did in the ruin site of great Zimbabwe. I would also like to find out why she, out of everyone, got to lead the excavation group that hadn’t been touched for an entire 25 years. It would also be interesting to find out about other things she did as an archeologist as well as find out why she had only women in her group.

I would like to learn more about the ruins of Great Zimbabwe. I think it would be good to learn more because there are 3 different "groups" of Ruins: the hill, valley, and the great enclosure. I would also like to learn about artifacts that were found. Also how long ago each "group" was built. was each "group" built at different times?

i am interested in finding out more information about Sundiata Keita and more about his life. such as the trials and how they expanded the country.

ok so i don't know how to delete my other post so...yeah.

But i decided to change my topic from African politics to the story and life of Sundiata. He was said to be a great warrior by the griots who tell the story of his life even today. He was Muslim just like Mansa Musa and he conquered a great tyrant to free a lot of West Africa.
